How do you make a succulent chair planter?

How do you make a succulent chair planter?- A few months ago. We posted a picture of a chair that I turned into a second planter. Here's a picture of what it looked like. A lot of you commented and shared the picture and many of you wanted to know how I did it. So I'm going to show you how let me show you the other supplies. I'm going to use for this project. Besides the chair. You can find all of these at your local garden and hardware store. First is the painting supplies. I chose coral and gold Moss. Liquid Nails, chicken wire and wire Snips, a measuring tape, a screw driver and a drill with some 1 inch screws, a handsaw or jigsaw. If you have one thick plastic, a really pretty

Of succulents little bit of charcoal and practice oil. The first thing I did is I went and found a chair and I just went to our local thrift store and I don't worry too much about how they look. And look at this chair. It is payment. The cushion is all stained but it really doesn't matter. There are tons of styles of chairs and a lot of different ways that you can make it here into a planter. But the one thing I do look for in a chair is I make sure that it has a wood band right underneath where the person is because what we're going to do is we're going to take the Christian off and then that is going to become the bottom. Of the chair. And so that will be our soil Reservoir. The reason I like to do it this way is because it integrates the plants into the current structure of the chair. There's no real visible soil Reservoir, and it makes me feel kind of do a double take when they walk by wondering how it's done. I actually have the other chair. I got done display down, where I work. And I found a guy on his back on the floor, in our sunroom area underneath the chair, trying to figure out how it was done. It was kind of funny. So, first, I'm going to start with deconstructing the chair. So first, I'll remove the top of a seat. Most seat tops are held on by a few.

So, I'll take those out with my screwdriver after the seed is removed. I'll take all the upholstery off. It's usually tacked on with staples, which are really easy to pry up. Next. I'll need to cut notches out of each corner of the seat. So it will fit around the legs. I'll measure and market, then I'll cut you can use a handsaw for this, but that takes way too long. So I'm going to just use our chops off. To attach the bottom. I applied a thin bead of Liquid Nails around the edges of the seat and then attached it with several 1 inch screws. Making sure to drill pilot holes. So the wood doesn't crack.

Next I'm going to paint. I didn't say under Prime. Like I should have the detail sometimes. Drive me crazy. I'm way too impatient. So it's taking three coats of paint to get full coverage. I probably should have done my breath work. I'll make sure to let it dry completely, then it will be ready to plant before I plant a line the reservoir with the plastic and make sure to fit really well into all the corners. And then I cut it a little closer to size, making sure to leave a little extra all the way around. Then I'll cut and shape a piece of chicken wire into a loose flattish Circle. I'll use this to help build up the soil into a sort of mound to get the planter more interest. I'll add in a bit of charcoal, which will help to absorb any smell from any excess water collecting at the bottom. Then I'll moisten the cactus. So just a little bit. It packs into and forms around the mound better when it's a little wet kind of like this. I'll add it into the planter packing it into the chicken wire form as I go. Now. I plant if you decide to use any large branches, rocks or other decorative,

Objetcs at those end. Before you plant, the smaller ones can be added later. I start by planting the taller plants toward the back and shorter toward the front. When I get into the areas with chicken wire. I use my wire Snips to make small holes. Just big enough to plant. In, when all the planting is done, use a little moth to tuck in around the plants to cover up. Any soil, that are showing then add branches or whatever else you think is pretty. I really like how it turned out. My husband's not. So sure about the colors, it is kind of pink, but I think it's amazing. It's not so much about the chair though, for me. I just Really? Hope it inspires you and get you thinking about using succulents in different ways. There are so many ways. You can use them. I've seen old dressers that have been torn apart and then people pull the dresser drawers out a little bit and plant them up. One time. I actually doubled up some burlap bags and a cut holes in the side. I planted in the holes and then also pointed out the top and that looks really neat. Rain gutters. I've seen rain gutters attached to sides of buildings on walls outside and filled up with succulents. They look just beautiful. I've even thought about distressing

Planting up my old, upright grand piano, which actually used to sit right behind where I'm standing, right up against this wall. It was an old junk piano that I just had moved out of here and gets to and only to itself and even then it's not very great place. I don't think I would feel too bad about planting it up and kind of wrecking it forever, but I think it would look beautiful with succulents and maybe a little hint of fairy garden and maybe even a fountain in there, but it's kind of a big project and I think it could probably get a little bit expensive to. So we'll see. Succulents are just such a Raising plants are so versatile and low maintenance. You can plant them in almost anything and put them almost anywhere and they'll do awesome. I really hope you guys enjoyed this DIY. I see you next time.
